King Pigeon Pose (Sanskrit: Eka Pāda Rājakapotāsana)

It is a seated back-bending asana in modern yoga and one of the more challenging poses for which you need both stability and flexibility.

It is particularly demanding because it requires you to remain centred and fluid, all at once. If you aren’t stable in your legs and core, you’ll topple over and if you aren’t fluid in your hips and spine, you risk forcing the pose and hurting yourself. King Pigeon Pose is about balancing these extremes, in both your body and mind.

Move carefully and with awareness for what arises within you. Breathe and take pauses in between to observe yourself.
