Mermaid Pose. A variation of one-legged King Pigeon pose (Sanskrit: Eka Pada Rajakapotasana).
Hips-, shoulders-, chest- and heart- opener, that teaches balance and stability. Note: it is an advanced pose.
Coordinate the movements of your body with the movements of your breath. Engage in Mula Bandha, Uddiyana Bhanda and Ujjayi Pranayama (victorious breath / ocean breath) for upward flowing prana. If done correctly, you should sound like gentle waves in the ocean.
It is always important to counter balance, especially any kind of backbend. Counter poses for mermaid: Seated Forward Fold or Child’s Pose.
